Photography days out are something I always immensely enjoy doing, but I find them quite hard to plan for – I suppose the main issue is finding free time (usually restricted to weekend days when working full-time).
They comprise of finding a location (usually researched online) and taking along the necessary equipment – camera bodies, lenses, flash, tripod, reflectors, remotes and if we are going to be in the shots, appropriate clothing and props (along with food, water and directions to the nearest pub lunch).
These were shot at Knowlton Church ruins in Dorset with my dear friend Jayne a couple of Decembers ago. Processed in Photoshop. A fairly quiet and isolated site (most other people we saw were just passing by walking their dogs), the Norman ruins are small but interesting and surrounded by a Neolithic ritual henge earthwork. We were lucky it stayed dry as the place is very exposed to the elements. Additional bonus of free parking close by!
