The antidote to fatigue and stress

Note: For Blogging 101, in response to the daily prompt ‘Re-springing Your Step: Tell us about the last experience you had that left you feeling fresh, energized, and rejuvenated. What was it that had such a positive effect on you?’

I often feel tired and/or stressed, especially during the Monday to Friday job; so to feel fresh and full of energy is, sadly, not normal for me – and I believe it should be! The last time I felt energized and fresh was during the Christmas break, on New Year’s Day in fact. I went for a walk with my husband in Ashdown Forest. One of the cool things about Ashdown Forest is that it’s where the Winnie-the-Pooh stories (much-loved during my childhood) are set. It’s unspoiled and uncommercialised, but there are a couple of published walks that take in some of the sights you read about in the books. We saw the Enchanted Place, the Heffalump Tree, the A. A. Milne and E. H. Shepard memorial, Roo’s Sandy Pit and Eeyore’s sad and gloomy place. Although physically tiring (we walked down into a valley and up again, and had to navigate a fair but of thick mud) it was great to be outside in that beautiful landscape depicted so well in Milne’s stories and the charming drawings of Shepard.

    • It’s beautiful, I recommend it. The village of Hartfield has a shop and tearoom called Pooh Corner, and walks taking in the ‘Enchanted Places’ can be found nearby.
